Is Concealer Your Best Friend or Worst Enemy?

Concealer can be your best friend or your worst enemy

Best concealer choice!

Color is critical! It should be either one shade lighter or match your foundation. Most women think the lighter the concealer, the better it will cover darkness THAT’S WRONG! A concealer that’s too light will make you look gray. The whole idea is to try to “correct” the darkness in the under eye area so it appears the same color as your face.

Best makeup test!

Before you buy any makeup, check the color at your jawline, in natural daylight. Be sure the color matches perfectly between your jawline and your neck to avoid a line of demarcation. If you see any difference in color, that shade is not for you.

Best light!

The best “true light” is outdoor or window light. Natural light makes all things highly visible – so a “lighter touch” with makeup should be your rule for outdoors. If you’re inside all day, be sure to check your makeup in good indoor light. (FYI – florescent lighting tends to have a green cast, not flattering to the skin.) Best asset at your vanity mirror is lighting on both sides, not just overhead. The goal is all over even illumination. Lighted makeup mirrors with magnification show the true picture.

Best application techniques!

You will find that your fingers are some of your best tools. However, working with a brush or sponge provides more control
and precision, plus you will use less product. For a smooth, poreless look… blend foundation down, against facial hairs and not upwards into the pores.

Best “60 second rule”!

“Give it a minute!” for your skin to absorb moisturizer, makeup, sunscreen or foundation and pause after each new layer of
product. When air hits makeup, it becomes thicker which provides better coverage. This will help create a longer lasting and polished finish.

Best advice!

The skin on every part of your body is a different color. Your face, eye area, neck, hands or legs may need more than one shade of makeup blended to create a perfect skin match.

Best words!

Gentle, patting, dabbing, pressing, feathering, stippling; especially around the eyes. Never ever drag, slap, scratch, scrub,
scribble or pull.
